Scene 11b: The Journey to Fiesive
---------------------------------

Scene Description begins: Storm Season, Movement Week,
Fireday (day 40), 1621 ST

Aided with their new Dwarf guide, Torsten (who makes
good friendship with Aalmon), the fellowship travelled
the southern leg of the High Llama Pass after bidding
fare well to their colleague Ureban, who sought to
return defend his lands against the encroachments of
the Kingdom of War. Although the path was oft-narrow
and the wooden bridges of dubious merit (although
Jareena swears that on least one occassion she could
see the powerful Repairing and "Glue" magics), they
finally exited the southern side of the Nidan
Mountains.

It was some eighty leagues along the Upper Tanier
River to Fiesive, and the land of Lankst was rough.
The people here are clannish and independent with a
King who intervenes as little as possible, preferring
to keep peace with the Aldryami of the west by way of
tribute, but ensuring that trade along the river is
not interrupted by Telmori and Dragonnewts by means of
a regular armed force. Despite the ruggedness of the
lands, the land is heavily populated by Orlanthi who
profit much with the southwards trade and under no
occassion did the fellowship want for hostel for food
and rest*.

For well on twenty days the fellowship travelled,
Kalen consuming his canned meals jovially along the
way. They left the clans of Lanskt and into the land
of Otkorion. Here, the strong hand of the Henotheist
Church was evident at every village and township.
Azhur initial reactions were marked; outright pagans
he found more tolerable than these heretics, who
claimed the legitimacy of the One Supreme Invisible
God and yet also included pagan deities in their
services! It took all the best soothing words of
Jareena to stop him from disrupting the first Sacred
Time service.

Eventually the fellowship arrives at Fiesive, largest
city and court of Otkorion, home of the Henotheist
Church and Archbishop Surantyr the Nonheretic. Torsten
gives his regards to the fellowship, stating he will
stay in a nearby village and await your return before
taking you into the lands of the Telmori, if that is
what you need. "Human cities aren't for me", he
explains. "Too many, well, humans and in too small an
area."

Within Fiesive the city is preparing for war; the
invasion of Seshnela has been announced. Patriotism is
rampant; at last, after six hundred years, the armies
of Railos will put aside their differences and seek
revenge for their prior subjugation. However, rumour
is also heard of another armed band forming - the
famour Hero Grundyer is seeking allies to march into
Lalia and dispatch the manifestation of Arkat the
Destroyer and the World Loser Movement.

Nota bene: Make or break time for Azhur Sinnersbane's
religious outlook in the following posts I suspect...

* Despite the trade and population there is little in
the way of roads; the rugged countryside, the highly
decentralised government and the rather rough ways of
the Orlanthi all ensure this.
