Aalmon looks at the death-worshipper for a moment and smiles before
turning back to Wilkairtha "As he says, they will be at their strongest
on that night and they will be expecting your attack. My power too is
ruled over by the moon and although I am strongest then I would not face
vampires on that night if I can help it. We can use this against them
but if we spend our lives in a direct assault on them when they are
strongest we will spend our lives cheaply indeed. By all means give the
appearance of preparing to attack, that in itself will pull most of
their forces together ready to repel your hordes. If the main strike
falls elsewhere and in a different way then it has all the more chance
of success.
As to why I think our rather odd plan might work, think on this.
Theoblanc has spent over a century building up his power within the
church with an iron hand, the church in return grants him immense
magical power. Such power that he has comes by the church he would lose
if his true nature were revealed. While he has the power of the whole
church to wield he is probably too much for all of us, without it we may
not even need to defeat him. If he was disgraced and a new king on the
throne not in his thrall then all this would look very different." He
finished gesturing once again at the diorama.
"In a way the Curse forces your hand, I understand that and that is what
we came here to help with. This woman Theanora of the the Telmori people
has discovered part of the way to do this, yet I believe there is more
to what she has discovered than any of us have yet understood. If we had
but more time to explore what this means and how to use the transforming
nature of the moon that was revealed when she rose " he says with a
reverential bow towards the North West where Sedenya hangs in the sky
"then I could talk to you of how we could use that. But with so little
time it would be a gamble, even if we succeed in the transformation we
do not yet know what new path it would lead us on. So whilst our devious
little plan is but a humble thing I do believe that if it disables our
main foe then we have time to resolve the great wrong that we came here
to heal."
Aalmon pauses and rubs his hand through his hair thinking over what he
has just said.
"If some of this sounds like mystic gibberish then I can only apologise
for my poor expression for I am a mystic of the path that you
encountered many centuries ago and for which you were cursed. My insight
tells me that there is a way to transform the Curse but that it is not
something that can be explained in words or performed with some magic
ritual, it is something that must be experienced to be understood. This
is why I came and this is why some day I must take on the gift that you
gave to Judge Kraken, for without it I cannot experience and understand
and so I cannot help any others on the path."
OOC: If anyone else other than Wilkairtha picks up on that allusion to
Nysalor then the cat is out of the bag so far as Aalmon being illuminated.
