Aalmon waits for yelm to set and sedenya to turn half way towards them, then presses a silver amulet to his forehead in prayer. His eyes sparkling crimson in the moonlight he gazes again over the armies, occasionally making a note on his map.
"i see better by moonlight" he whispered with a smile.
(ooc: much as before but making use of his rather more impressive see in darkness and moon eye abilities)

Scene 44: Knarl Talonrake and Aalmon Far Rider in
Asgolan Valley
As always loyal to the Immortal werewolf hero, Knarl
Talonrake immediately heads towards the Undead army
that Wilkthaira's forces have been harassing.
Grudgingly, he allows Aalmon to accompany him after
the Far Rider expresses his improved abilities under
the fullness of the Red Moon.
Exiting Seguarane Forest, they make their way over the
green hills as yet another heavy rain falls among the
heavy winds. Knarl sniffs the air and announces that
Orlanth's reach is indeed far this season. The hilly
pasture lands south of the Deu RIver have been largely
deserted and some sheep now roam wild. Over the day,
Knarl travels a good fifteen leagues, avoiding the
occassional forward squad of militia and mercenaries
sent by the Undead army [Hunter 17, augmented with
Know Seshnela +2, enviromental conditions +5,
geography +5, roll 11 versus Scouting 18, roll 16] .
Whilst Aalmon has difficulties keeping up with the
Telmori's incredible endurance, he earns respect from
the Wolf Brother by pointing out a couple of paths
[Assess Quickest Route 17, roll 4, resistance 14 roll
9] that assist them both in making good distance for
their time.
On the evening of the first day they find themselves
on the treeline of the hills surrounding the grand
army from Nolos in the Asgolan Valley. The location
was well chosen by Knarl, offering both vision across
the fields and protection from those looking towards
them [Scan and Spot 19, enviroment +5 roll 12, versus
Scout and Perception 20, roll 18]. It is here that
Bailifes established the dominance of the Rokari sect
in Seshnela some two hundred years prior in the first
and second battles of Asgolan Fields and was crowned
King the following year by Mardron, the Archbishop of
Leplain, and Ecclesiarch of the Holy Church of
Rokarism. What strange coincidence it would be that
the head of the Rokari faith would again take arms in
such a location, thought Aalmon. War, he considered
grimly, has a habit of repeating itself in Glorantha
as much as anything else [Hate War 13].
As Yelm cast his long shadow from the west, Aalmon
began to scrawl on parchment from their vantage point
[Draw maps 13, augment Cavalry Soldier 17, roll 11,
resistance 14 roll 14], as an impatient Knarl made
askance of his actions. Aalmon explained that he was
carrying out, Wilkthaira's instructions and
determining the number of troops. "Many", responded
Knarl looking over the field and the camps.
Aalmon smiled and used his Far Gaze to determine
number, type and location [13 + vantage point +5, roll
6 Resistance 14, evening +5, roll 8]. After some time
he could announce. "I believe there are over five
score companies. About two score are Nolos militia, at
least according to their heralds. They will be lightly
armed and armoured and only truly useful for
skirmishing. They rarely have the spirit to engage in
war, except when they are defending their home, at
which case they fight with great valour. In a way,
Knarl, they are like the Telmori."
"Another two score are professional soldiers from
Nolos; an assortment of knights, swordsmen, pikemen
and the like. They will probably form the backbone of
the force and will fight with discipline and without
fear."
"Another score carry various banners indicating they
are professional mercenaries. Again, knights,
swordsmen and pikemen. Quite deadly and
battle-hardened. In theory however they could be
bribed to turncoat and, if they are the losing side,
will prefer discretion to valour."
"Within the centre of the encampment I can espy
different of companies, a score or more, carrying
banners of the Church of Rokari and of Nolos. This
confuses me somewhat, although I am no expert in their
matters. They seem to be staffed by undead; zombies
and skeletons judging by their form and movement.
Judging from their uniforms, these are mostly
Seshnelian soldiers who fell in battle. They are
probably led by Vampires."
"In the very centre of the force I can see three
banners. One of the Rokari Bishop of Nolos, one of the
Rokari Bishop of Pasos (I was sure they were neutral
in this war) and one of the Ecclesiarch, Bishop of
Leplain. There is where we will find their leader"
Knarl looked at wonder at the Moon Mage. By allowing
him to come, they had discerned much of the enemy
without having approach too closely. However, they
were still far from their target and he knew that he
must return to the pack before sunset on the morrow,
for that would be the time of transformation.
