Scene 46: Jareena, Karala, Anzhur, The Beast and the
Telmori

Four members of the Fellowship and their companions
joined Wilkthaira as they retreated deep into the
Forest of Segurane toward the old thrice-walled city,
where some three fifty score of the best knights and
wizards of the now-broken Kingdom of Seshnela still
held out against a siege of a like number of the
Aldryami. The diminutive dark men, despite being in
these difficult circumstances and surrounded by racial
enemies prided themselves in displaying no fear.

Upon Icthya's askance, many runners travelled the
length and breadth of the new forest collecting the
many and varied common herbs upon the requests of the
healer Jareena and that recipe granted by Thaneora,
companion of the Uncoling Karala. The runners, being
experts of shubberies* where able to collect within a
score of hours a vast quantity of the requisite herbs,
but still Thaneora was troubled.

"These Telmori are no experts at the meditative states
that I engage in when I take my brew. If the enter the
woods of Fir, how will they react**? What if they fail
at the crossing? The Undead could be upon them and
they would not realise as they were torn lim from limb
and none will be able to protect them!"

Anzhur's gaze instead was towards the great city of
Seguarane, which still towered on a hill above the
foliage surrounding it. Despite its battered banners
and the quiet that had descended upon the city under
siege, it was a still majestic monument to the
Invisible God. Three thousand great wizards and
knights he thought, nearly all loyal to the basic
principles of One Invisible Creator. He shook his head
sadly; yet they were all under the temporal orders of
a degenerate King and their spiritual leader was now
clearly in league with Chaos itself. Such is the
inevitable conclusion of the Blasphemy of Leplain! But
what to do?
