Looking at
the confusion following the announcement of the Nameless One, Azhur called his
squire.
"Othor...
nobody seems to know exactly what to do now... perhaps it is time to show to
the world the old relic of Daymare ancestors. It is said to inspire allies and
terrorize enemies. It is older than our kingdom, even older than the great
heretic empires of the second age... Perhaps the Nameless One will react with
awe, fear or sympathy... in any way, its reaction will learn us something about
him or the banner."
" As
you wish, Sir, answered simply the squire then he walked to the pack horse and
soon a dark red banner was floating in the low wind of the swamp. The fabric
was worn but still in one full recognizable piece. Big sized, strange inscriptions
in an ancient and forgotten language was embroidered in black on both sides.
Self persuasion or true magic,
Azhur felt suddenly more confident.

Aalmon had tried to suppress his wry smile as he listened to this - too
clever by half he had thought to himself. Then when it seemed nobody
else would speak he answered "Well we could try that but maybe we could
simply ask politely for his help first and see how he responds. We don't
know what trickery or coercion might work or fail so to attempt any
seems rather risky to me. Of course if being nice does not work or his
demands are impossible then I'm sure we could try something like you
suggest, Baros and I could help a bit with weaving an illusion if that
is what we needed to do."
