Unless anyone else chips in with a comment in the flashback I'm going to
switch back to the present with my next post.
As for the different approaches, Aalmon happens to be a member of a
denomination that concentrates on peaceful-conversion-of-barbarians so
yes he is biased that way.
However if we did agree to a parlay approach its worth bearing in mind
that the preparations for a parlay are much the same as those for
battle, the honor guard would be in full battle-harness the buglers and
banner-bearers are the same as would be used to rally the troops in a
melee etc. In fact the implied threat of being able to put up a fight
would IMO be an important part of the preparations. Maybe my vision of
Fronela is too coloured by medieval Europe.
