[HQ Ignorance] Re : First Scene: Sog City, Syanorian attitudes etc

I meant to answer this earlier.

When I put bastard down on the narrative I had a few things in mind. One
of them was my assumption that even where the Syanorian Church no longer
holds power the cultural attitudes are pretty well established and it
remains about the worst insult that you can direct at a man throughout
the Janube valley and Jonatela.

One could almost wonder why a wet behind the ears courier ended up in
pitched battle with demons from the Kingdom of War, hardly the most
obvious choice to put in the forefront unless he is by far your most
expendable asset - or even an outright embarrassment to powerful people.
This may also be a commentary on what chances of success the Riverjoin
rulers think this particular quest has.

In case anyone was wondering one of my other ideas is that when a crisis
causes his illumination to turn to occlusion he will use bastard as a
character trait and fully live down to the derogatory meaning of the
word. You have been warned.

However I never thought there was much risk of him running into one of
the 4 or 5 people in the world with the religious duty and magical
ability to punish bastards for their birth with tapping. He'd have to be
incredibly unlucky for that to happen :)
