I should also mention I'm a little more
"simulationist" when it comes to *effects* of
abilities, in rather the same spirit as the flaws and
edges of Hero Wars.
So rather than giving a saddle-axe (for example) a +3
bonus to the weapon ability, it will have one 'degree'
worse effect on damage (e.g., a minor victory under
the normal HQ rules will have the effect of a major
victory if you're using a large weapon).
It was something that irked me about the HeroQuest
system for some months before I could put my finger on
it...
