The Telmori accepts the wineskin and gulps deeply from
it. Tanuki, in the form of a small wolf, nuzzles at
the hand of the Telmori, who welcomes the appearance
of a young wolf-brother. For several minutes, Aalmon
shares wine with the Telmori, who alternates his
drinking with play with the transformed Tanuki. Aalmon
watches emotionally at the Telmori, who genuinely
treats the wolf-pup with the affection that one would
treat a favoured child. His troubles are depened when
he considers the prophecy, and the recent claims that
the Telmori will declare war upon the lands of
Fronela, and the children of Talor, whom they consider
the source of their curse. As the Telmori drinks his
fill and gently falls asleep, cradling the pup with an
arm as it licks his face, he swears to himself* that
he must, somehow, prevent the war between the Telmori
and the peoples of Fronela in a manner that harms
these people. For no matter what taint of Chaos they
may have, they show great empathy and kindness. He
grimaced at a thought; lycanthropes are not monsters,
but moral people.

With heavy heart but with silence and dexterity, he
pilfered the bag of silver slugs and the Mostali-club
like objects, shaking his head in recognition that he
was stealing objects held in high esteem by the
Telmori, but recognised that it may help the quest of
the Fellowship.

Coming out from the shadows, Tanuki transformed to his
natural state and made his way to Icthya. Karala took
upon her spirit and wolf and their new companion.
Silently, but with haste they exited the great hall,
half-expecting immediate calls of hue and cry in
recognition of both their escape and theft. In the
darkness of the early morning, they easily by-passed
the guards and escaped The Den. The sleeping dogs
remained asleep.
