(Thanks for the kind words, Loran)
The body of the Fellowship, upon resting and eating
compare notes on their situation. Azhur's comment "I
will never despise your pagan magic again", raises an
eyebrow from Aalmon, who nevertheless continues with
the issue at hand.
"Our situation is not unlike that of Makla Mann, King
of the Otkorini. He was a loyal follower of Arkat in
the Gbaji Wars. After Tanisor fell, Nysalor put
Deringos Pistol in employ, who utilised local support
and the guerrilla tactics of the now-cursed Telmori to
push back the crusade, and captured Makla in the
process. Arkat, with a force of human scouts, aldrymi
and troll rangers managed to locate Makla and rescue
him."
"We could attempt a HeroQuest, but we would need local
support to raise sufficient Power. Also, we would
require members of the Fellowship to play out the
roles. Even more so, we would need more information
from a cultist or a sage who knows the story better
than I [marginal success], for it is truly dangerous.
It would have to be performed in Telmori lands, I
suspect - and I don't need to describe the results of
a failed HeroQuest"
A freshly groomed Icthya joins in the conversation,
having made contact with Karala's spirit companion
which followed the path. The spirit has some
recollection of the path back [marginal failure].
Various wolves kept chase over two days at least; they
seemed serious about their quarry.
(Hells bells! Normal success for Karala and a critical
failure for the Telmori!)
Many leagues and days away, Karala sends her spirit to
follow the bulk of the Fellowship the Telmori, whilst
calming the viciousness of the surrounding Telmori.
Her soothing words does indeed bring them calm, as
they sit around her and collectively howl mournfully.
The Mystic seems unimpressed but accepts the judgement
of his canine brethren. "It would appear that your
closeness to kindred spirits has kept you from
becoming dogmeat like your companion", as he waves
towards the various remains of the Bishop. "I am in
two minds at this point. Most of me is intrigued with
the promise of using you as bait. It will serve us
well, if we can prevent the weapons of Talor's
companions from coming together. We will be able exact
the bloody vengence against his people that is
deserved for the heinous Curse."
