That was my first reaction too.

Of course this is Heroquest and in this game defeat is just a route into 
another fun story. So we have established that Beast is not comfortable 
with all that ritual and heavy duty heroquesting right now, that makes 
him a more interesting and flawed character already. I have found the 
way to get the best out of Heroquest is always to go with the flow and 
look for the positive in everything that happens - the positive in terms 
of what fun can you have with it. I'm still thinking about how my 
character turned into a troll and what happens if he does not turn back 
(which I suspect could happen if he fails badly and falls out of the 
heroquest).
