Aalmon looked at the barbarian with increased respect, he had not
realised the subtlety of the sword-mans spirituality.

Aalmon settled down and resumed fiddling with his chess set "I
understand what you are saying sword-wielder but practical matters will
force our hand. To try to steer the wolf-men back onto a path of peace
would be an achievement worthy of epic poetry, to also redeem the undead
would need divine inspiration and power. Now we are a hardy and
resourceful group " he looked around at the reduced numbers of the
fellowship " but I think it is beyond us by so far that to even attempt
it would guarantee our failure and our doom. I will bear your words in
mind but I doubt we can do much about them."
As he laid out the chess pieces he seemed to name each one under his
breath and the crystal pieces began to glow. As he placed the white
pieces the group could hear familiar names, of the fellowship and of
Wilkairtha as he placed the white king. The names that came out of his
throat when he placed the black pieces were stranger and seemed to mean
nothing even to Aalmon. The for hours upon end he played through various
positions, trying different strategies, seeking out ways to save the
game yet not sacrifice pieces. As if seeking some answer to a great
problem or conundrum. He seemed happy to listen to any suggestions yet
for much of the time seemed almost in a trance his concentration was so
great.
OOC: Lev, I have never established what the Crystal Chess Set does but I
think it might be used for a form of divination. Anyway that is what
Aalmon is attempting in conjunction with his ability at chess and his
seeking of a peaceful way towards his aim of peace with the Telmori.
