Objet : [HQ Ignorance] Scene 29: To the Castle Coast

The funeral of Judge Kraken was a sombre affair. There
was no joy in the circumstances of his demise, and the
depression that hung over Arolanit made the
circumstances worse. Nevertheless Anzhur's speech was
stirring, combining the strengths and virtue of the
judge with his beliefs. It was an honourable and
dignified service, and the Essence of Judge Kraken
could rest, knowing that the Fellowship would continue
its Quest.

Talar Malaskan Phillipe, ruler of Arolanit, met with
the rump Fellowship after the service, whereupon it
was explained to the Talar that they must seek out
their quarry near the ruins of Laurmal on the Castle
Coast. For it was from the insight of Aalmon the Moon
Mage, reconstructing the story of Judge Kraken that
led him to realise that a wound from the Axe of
Wilkairtha, once carried by Zorscam, allowed the Curse
to be transmitted.

Bearing the mark of the Talar, the Fellowship rode
south-west from the Palace of Pentacles to the port of
Laufol, the journey taking several days. Here Arolanit
seemed much different; foreigners openly traded in the
streets and the colours of many nations and trading
houses flourished upon the masts of various ships,
along with shrines dedicated to great Dormal, who
opened the seas. The laughter of children could even
be heard; foreign children, but children nonetheless.
In comparison to the rest of Arolanit, Laufol was
alive.

>From there the Fellowship took the Cutting Shark, a
sleek fast caravel which travelled from the Castle
Coast to Laufol on a regular basis trading rare
metals, woods and ancient artifacts from the south to
the specialised equipment made in the north. The
captain, a jovial fellow, was a native of the Castle
Coast as were most of the crew. A land of strongly
independent communities where only the Castle of Rhis
could even claim the status of barony, the people of
Castle Coast claim ancestry to the ancient God
Learners, although most are refugees from the old
battle of Asglon Fields in 1414 which established
today's Kingdom of Seshnela.

The sailors of the Cutting Shark, upon hearing that
the Fellowship sought the Telmori of the Kanthor
Forests were full of superstition and concern. They
spoke of how the Aldryami of those lands worked with
the numerous Beastmen who also inhabited the
woodlands. Of the nonhumans, many were hostile,
barring the Mostal of the Iron Hills to the north of
Rhis and a handful of the Beastmen. Most of all
however, they spoke of a terrifying Purple Ship, which
it was said traversed the waters of the Isles. It
carried the Luatha, five metre tall demigods of the
Lands of Dusk, who were responsible for destroying the
old Kingdom of Seshnela.

Finally, the Cutting Shark reached the Castle Coast
and from their the Castle of Rhis. With the mark of
Talar, the Fellowship (barring Icthya and Kalen of
course) gained audience with Tierre of Caskell, also
known as Speaker to the Beastmen. The castle whilst of
modest size, was well-constructed and clearly many
hundreds years old. Young Tierre, with his piercing
blue eyes and long blue-black curls, was unkempt yet
still regal. Apart from the usual courtiers and
representatives of neighbouring human keeps, there was
also Dwarves from the Iron Mountains present, an
Aldryami from Kanthor, and a Centaur, representing the
Beastman.

Tierre read the letter of introduction from the Talar,
and in a nonplussed manner handed it to a servant.
"Now", he said. "Tell me your side of the story"
