Charity and skepticism were tearing his heart apart: The despair should have been terrible that Judge Kraken had to take his own life away, but how could God let a man commit suicide just when his companions were coming to him with the hope of controlling the Talor’s curse? His Ways have to be more mysterious than the New Hrestoli Church was proclaiming.

Aalmon shook his head in sorrow as Kraken's tale unfolded, occasionally
muttering prayers to his strange foreign gods.

The Arrolian's eyebrows raised in surprise "Azhur, nobody could deny you
have ambition and courage. What you suggest is one of the greatest and
most difficult of tasks, even amongst famous heroes and saints how many
have succeeded in what you suggest? I fear the best we can do for Kraken
now is to see that he rests in peace and for us to follow his path, only
doing so with a little more wisdom and understanding so we survive the
experience."

"I had not known Wilkairtha could create the curse anew. The curse is
ruled over by the moon so I think I should learn what Thaneora has to
teach about it and make preparations. We have been told the path we must
follow, we must prepare for the consequences of following it, although I
can hope that I could limit those consequences to myself who could bear
them better than most."

[OOC] Aalmon is working on the assumption that at least part of the
curse is "lunacy" - lunar inspired madness. He is making the assumption
that illumination will give him some measure of protection from the
madness and so he is the best one to face the risks - he could of course
be entirely wrong.
