When all this information came to hand Icthya pondered
in the presence of this Tarinwood priestess, and a
great plan came to her mind. First, with the aid of
the priestess, she sent an great eagle to soar among
the clouds and seek out the Stone Man, Kalen Ironhand,
at the Palace of the Pentacles, bearing him the most
unusual missive to meet Icthya at the eastern edge of
the Forest of Segurane, tho' no such place existed.
Then the Elves sent Runners as messages to the armies
of Arolanit in the north, to Nolos in the south and to
the confederate armies of Ralios in the east that they
too must not enter this non-existent forest, and that
this would be the price of the children of the woods
for their most critical assistance. Finally, an
immediate transmission is sent to the Aldryami of
Kanthor's Islands and the castle coast, informing all
and sundry of these upcoming events.
Avoiding the Holy See of the Rokari in the city of
Leplain, over the next weeks dozens of Elves and
Runners, under the command of Ictyha and coordinated
by the Priestess of Tarinwood plant magic seeds around
Segurane, most prominently along the river banks of
the Nidan River in the north, the Sodal River in the
east, the Deu River in the west and the Tanier River
in the south. Calling upon her piscene magicks, Icthy
directed many a river-fish to consume seeds so they
would be deposited strategically far along the
riverbanks, and most secretly, touching the
river-harbour of Segurane itself. Under the cover of
night and protected by magics of invisibility, Runners
were sent to plant many of the seeds near Segurane and
Sprites were smuggled into the first ring of the city
itself, especially on the day of the market when much
produce of the human gardens was common.
Some Runners and Sprites were caught; but they had
been ordered to consume strong poisons under such
circumstances and so the armies of Guilmarn The Fat,
King of Seshnela, were unable to discern the plans of
the Aldryami of Tarinwood. A messenger was sent from
Guilmarn to the Aldryami of Tarinwood requesting that
they respect the borders of their Kingdom, and with
many threats if the children of the forest did not.
Missive were also received from the armies of Railos,
who expressed their delight and acceptance of the
claims of the Aldryami, as long as they could stake
claims to Dangk, Leplain and the ruins of Arkhome.
>From Arolanit, there was an expression of mild
acceptance and thanks for the assistance, but mostly
of confusion. From Nolos no response was received.
On the dawn of the allocated day, the Aldryami sung.
Saplings surged forth from the soil greeting the
morning sun. The sounds of the song grew greater and
is did the plants themselves; when the cresendo was
reached a mighty forest stood where once there were
farms, villages, manor houses and keeps. The
inhabitants of the surrounds of Segurane were in
disarray; many surrended in sheer terror. Others
sought refuge in the remaining buildings of stone and
cowered or fought. Meanwhile, to the north the armies
of the Railos confederacy and the immortal sorcerers
and knights of Arolanit near the ancient ruins of
Arkhome. That day belonged to the allies, who chased
the army of the King of Seshnela back towards their
ancestral home, only to discover that a new forest had
been born.
And on the eastern edge of the forest, an otherwise
unemotional man of Stone waited nervously, surrounded
by Aldryami, Runners and Sprites. Eventually the plant
of his waiting arrived: "Right on time", remarked
Icthya. "But you Mostal do have such excellent
time-sense don't you?"
