Weak and haggard in the raising light of a new dawn, Azhur smiled to Lady Marianne:
- “Look, the mare of light is running again through the sky, he muttered to her, showing the sun above and referring to his family coat of arm…”
As the blessings of Talor finished, leaving him trembling and mourning, Azhur felt the exhaustion of hours of fights and shouts. Tears of sorrow and tiredness slowly rolled down his cheeks, as he walked among the corpses:
- “Theoblanc’s hubris is obvious! Indeed, it is a great crime to turn people against people and living against dead, just to satisfy his own vision of the Creator!”
He stood in the brand new light, listening to the crows and the wounded ones and then shout to the population merging from the dungeons:
- “Anyone who could still walk, should look for the valorous who can be saved. If you find a wounded enemy, treat him as well as your brother! As we have discovered this night, lack of charity is a sin! To find peace, you need to forgive, but vampires and other undeads have to be burned on sight! These ones are unnatural aberrations of the Devil!”
When Baron Silverdale and knights from the House of Gilboch came to him, Azhur kneeled with difficulty in his dented armor and presented the Regalia of the King of Seshnela:
- “My Lord, I have just done my best to protect these items from dishonor as any royal regalia should be treated. My role as War Constable of this city is now over and I’m ready to give them back to any seshnelan Lord who will deserve the noble title of King.”
When the rest of Talor’s fellowship showed-up, a true happiness appeared on his face and he called them:
- “My friends, you survived! Thanks the Invisible God; all my prayers have been realized! Alas Theoblanc the Heresiarch has escaped and by a curious coincidence in Borin, the duchy where the boristi heresy has been created… This sound to me as further problems!”
Azhur turned again to the Baron Silverdale and explained:
- “For Theoblanc, my Lord, you can probably contact the head of the ralian coalition and tell them that you are recommended by us, the Talor’s Fellowship, especially with Lady Erengazor, Princess of Sentanos, the Grand Wizard Talar Phillip Malaskan of Arolanit, the Archbishop Surantyr of Otkorion and even, if all decline the offer, the troll named “Arkat Chaosbane” in Zorakarkat. I am sure that any sane leaders among the ralian forces will fight the boristi heresy as fiercely as you have reasons to do. Tell them that Theoblanc as traitor to the Kingdom of Seshnela, heretic to the Rokari faith, wielder of Chaos and enemy of all free peoples, deserved to be brought before the seshnelan court and judged fairly for his acts, but beware of his tricks and magics… this man is now a puppet of the Devil!”
To Wilkairtha and the Talor’s Fellowship, Azhur said:
- “I’m happy to have won your trust, Lord Wilkairtha of the telmori, even if I still regret the sufferings summoned by the events that made it possible… In the quest that lies before us, I fear that we will need more than a legendary weapon of Talor. In his time, what has made Saint Talor strong weren’t just his three weapons, as he hadn’t enough arms to handle them all together by himself, but were his trusted bearers, who all fight on his side. we need to discuss this point with the rest of the fellowship, especially with Karala Walks-With-The Great-White-Wolf, but my own impression is that you should keep the Talor’s Axe, because no one other than you will get as much time and experience to master it than you get in your past immortal existence… but my request will be that you should come to Fronela among the Hunshen people to help them to be united and organized against the Kingdom of War and then, when time will be arrived for the
final assault on this terrible place, to answer the call-up… at least it is my feeling today because I would not feel right to dispossess someone who accepted to go to war on the same side than me!”
Finally, he concluded:
- “For the rest, I agree with Aalmon Far-Rider, we must first recover our strengths, treat our wounded people, bury our dead friends and familiy members and burn the rest of the enemy!”
He smiled shyly to Lady Marianne and told her brother:
- “I have kept for the end my hardest trouble and most improbable hope. I know that here is the worst place and time to expose such need and that I’m the most unworthy person to have such demand, but…”
The words were becoming hard to find for Azhur of the Daymare House, but he pursued as valiantly as he could:
- “For the moment, I’m on a terrible quest which can take its toll on every member of our fellowship at any moment, as it has already happen several time since we departed the University of Sog, the best being not the last to fall… But I have to acknowledge to you both that I… that… my heart nourishes an hopeless inclination for Lady Marianne’s grace, beauty and nobility. It would be foolish from me to have any demands, but honesty and honor command me to let you kown that if I was free of my choices… I would humbly ask you for the right to court your sister, but as I have to go only God knows where, I request your advices and help…”
Azhur felt pitiful but waited in a terrible anguish the answers of both the brother and the sister.

Aalmon swayed slightly in his saddle as he wearily replied "First we lay
the dead to rest and see to the living. Then we can spend our time on
great dreams, with the cost of failure fresh in our minds.
Lord Tierre, would you help me lay my brother to rest in the forest?
There are others, of your household, who followed me into battle and
fell, will they also lie in the new forest?"
He looked over to the scenes of carnage at the keep and then turned to
those following him who he had led into that horror "Take what you want
from the fallen enemies and any still living are your hostages to ransom
if you choose. Except the wizards, their possessions will be my share
and I would be grateful if you would bring them to me when the day is done."
He turned to the other members of the fellowship "Tomorrow we can
discuss our future plans." Then spurred his horse away to find the
remains of his brother.
