Blushing and confused, Azhur looked at Icthya with amazement. Never in his life, he had been confronted to such surprising statement. Totally lost at first, Azhur’s mind began very slowly to rebuild an appearance of reasoning: Icthya was a walking plant; true humans couldn’t judge her with their own values. Around him, people didn’t seemed as shocked as he was, even Marianne was smiling at him with such brighten and burning eyes that he suddenly felt a powerful pulse beating him all along. Only his strong noble education offered him an acceptable solution... Azhur stammered it quite stupidly:
- "A ma-ma-marriage with Ma-ma-marianne? But who-who wou-would want something else?"
He took Lady Marianne by the hand so she could feel the strength of his love for her and his glance stopped on her delicious eyes.
- "Dear Marianne, I already told you once that I was a very poor courtier and this is probably the shortest courting period in all History, but you may testify that all short cuts have been taken against my own will. I’m now just standing there, in front of you, as a humble pretender to your hand... with the only hope that you will teach me the right ways to deserve it during our travel to the Gilboch Isle..."
Considering that he was already holding Lady Marianne’s hand with fervor, his request suddenly appeared quite intrepid to him, but dices were thrown... this done, his mind still bumped on the next part of Icthya’s proposal. Why was his name associated with the title of king? Of course, after all these travels outside Loskalm, he had achieved a very clear vision of what could be done politically to help all the western countries against the threat of the Kingdom of War and the feared next return of the Devil in one form or an other… but who in Seshnela would want a losklami for king? Who would accept such a doubting agnostic like him for leader?
With a hesitating tone, he addressed to the baron:
- "Are you really serious when you speak about the possibility of giving me the title of King of Seshnela? I know that, most of the time, seshenelan nobles have elected their king and sometime foreigners like the Good King Gerlant were chosen... But there must be better people than me for such an important task, people like you or..."
Azhur looked around, looking for other potential candidates: dead knights and soldiers were lying all around, wounded survivors were mourning up to the inner buildings of the fortress (even the philosophic Aalmon, under the loss of his lecherous brother, looked like an angering statue of gray stone), broken standards on the battlefield were the last sad symbols of the civil war... only a few remained from the arrogant greatness of the seshnelan kingdom during its old rokari period.
- "Well... I’m sure there must be someone able to treat all the different inhabitants of this broken country with justice and equity, able to negotiate with the different leaders of Ralios, first to stop their invasion then to negotiate a fair peace for both sides. Someone to make this land strong again and ready for the next coming battles, when the Kingdom of War will expand upon the mountains and will pour its slaughtering war machine all over the western world... because, alas, this battle for Segurane wasn’t the last, but the first of a greater war to come. You can be sure of that!"
