[OOC]
Let me defend Azhur's bride a little... ;-)
In this abstract of rules from Glorantha.com, we have some resistances for romance (p5)
- Seduce a willing partner : automatic
- Seduce a potential partner : 20 to 10W2
- Seduce someone who is married or in love 5W to 10W2
and magically speaking, Lady Marianne is also probably under a religious blessing from an angagement ceremony.

Hmmm... I must have an old copy of your character
sheet. Could you send me an updated version?

Not really. She's just a normal person with a few
abilities in Healing, Courtly knowledge and the like.
Oh well.. here goes and all that follows..
Scene 62: Of Marianne and Aalmon
[This scene is out of sync, insofar it occurs in the
middle of Scence 61. Play out both as desired, I don't
think there will be any plot conflicts and if there
is, I'm sure we can resolve them.]
Following the death of his Twinstar Spirit, the
Bastard Aalmon fell into a deep brooding, whilst all
around him there were joyous preparations with both
the reuniting of Old Seshnela and the New, the
formation of firm foundations for a lasting peace in
the land and, of course, the coronation of Anzhur
Sinnerbane and his marriage to the fair Marianne of
House Gilboch.
For it seemed to Aalmon that the Fates had treated him
poorly. Not only had his beloved brother fallen in the
desparate charge against the might of the mercenaries
that the inner keep of Segurane City, but he had
witnessed such casualties throughout that entire
battle, not the least being the loss of the hundreds
of skirmishers who gave their life in the opening
hours against the onslaught of the Vampiric army, just
so that those safe in their thrice-walled city could
buy more precious time. And was it not Aalmon who
bribed the most powerful mercenary army not to engage
the Elves and the city? And was it not Aalmon who
risked his own life by observing first hand the magics
of the Vampires at Asgolan Fields?
And yet it was Anzhur to whom the rewards were heaped.
It was Anzhur to whom the crowds of peasants cheered
as they marched through the western lands of Seshnela.
It was Anzhur to who all looked up to and who would
become the new King. And, of course, it was Anzhur who
had won the affections of the fair maid Marianne.
"Such is my birthright", muttered Aalmon, and so his
bitterness grew. But a plan most wicked had formed in
his mind, one which would give him some of the reward
he believed he deserved and
This mood had not gone unnoticed by the King-elect who
expressed great concern at the state of his friend.
Whilst caught in the various protocols and
negotiations becoming of his new position, he
entrusted Marianne in Aalmon's care, fearing some
counterstrike from Theoblanc. At the same time he also
assigned the follower of St. Humact, Swordsinger, to
watch over Aalmon's most melancholy moods. Whilst
Aalmon dismissed the death-warrior with disdain, his
mood was most brightened in his former task and
Swordsinger's report to his master expressed as much;
and Anzhur was pleased.
Over the weeks that followed, Aalmon showed
graciousness to his hostess, who explained the history
and religion of her lands and their steadfast faith in
the Old Hrestoli religion. Subtle was Aalmon, who
feigned interest in what he considered a rustic and
insular faith. For his part he was able to tell her of
the rich diversity of the city states of the Janube
River, of the many kingdoms of Railos, and even the
strange religions of the Elder Races. He even
mentioned the city of Zoria, near his home, ruled by
the Courtesans of Uleria, goddess of Love and
Infinity, and their skill in the sensual arts.
It was through these teachings that Aalmon released
the seductive magics of his Twin, now embodied in his
spirit. Marianne, as with any conservative maiden,
reacted with the increasingly ribald tales of the
people of Zoria with a peculiar combination of disgust
and desire. With his dashing contenance and winning
smile and most importantly with subtle and powerful
magics, Aalmon was able to mould Marianne like clay -
or even more appropriately, like playing chess with a
novice. At first she was increasingly pleased to spend
time in his company, for such his mind was clever and
keen, and he had seen such things in his many
journeys.
But as the day of her wedding approached, she became
torn in spirit. For she was increasingly considering
Aalmon as more than a friend, and he had reminded her
that once given in this ceremony she was gone from the
opportunity of the arms of all others, with just a
hint of sadness in his voice. So it was in the night
of the full moon before the first day of Sacred Time,
that they met in the wild gardens of Gilboch castle as
the beginnings of the spring warmth could be felt in
their bones. Marianne expressed, like so many maidens
do, on how torn she was for the love she had to her
betrothed and the nagging fears of whether such
lifetime dedication, without knowledge of another,
would provide her happiness forever.
At that point Aalmon struck with the moonlight in his
eyes; "Among many of the people of Zoria, they would
consider it wrong for a woman to marry a man, unless
she was ... experienced". As he approached her and her
eyes grew wild, her breathing rapid and her bosom
heaved. Then he took her into his arms and she let out
a sigh as they both submitted to the lustful magics
which overwhelmed them. For a time they forgot their
cares and responsibilities and embraced their oneness,
releasing their pent up frustrations upon another.
Time itself seem to disappear in their passion and
they would have fallen asleep into the arms of each
other, if it were not for the Watch calling upon the
stroke of midnight.
Silently they dressed, composed themselves and went to
their respective chambers. Their deed was done.
