Scene 79: The Sickness of Icthya
Aided by the great improvements in weather, Icthya and Aalmon make good
speed through the Lunar Empire. From Furthest they make the highly
travelled roads along the Oslir River and note in particular the masons,
engineers and soldiers that are taking the route southwards, undoubtably
towards Wintertop.
They pass through Filichet, court of the powerful but vassal state, the
Queendom of Holay, and make their way for an extended stop for a while
at the city called Mirim's Cross, the beginning of the famous Daughter's
Road, the straitest and best paved road in all of Glorantha. Throughout
the journey, Icthya is treated with high regard, for although she is
elf, she is a she, and the land is matrilinear. Aalmon is considered but
a common soldier, until the pair travel further north where the
indigenous population of Sairdites because more mixed with colonial Dara
Happans.
Half way down the Daughter's Road, between Mirim's Cross and Jillaro, in
the tributary Kindgom of Vanch, Icthya however begins to succumb to a
sense of nausea whilst in this region [1]. Whilst she has been in many
human lands before and has seen the sickening way they order their
mono-crops in neat fields, never has she been exposed to these effects
on such scale and density. Her Elfsense, swimming, she is unable to
journey with any effectiveness, and pleads with Aalmon to find a forest
where she may rest and recuperate.
For his own part, Aalom is initially at a loss on where to take Icthya.
The region around Daughter's Road is densely populated, and any 'forest'
is more likely to be nothing but a small grove which - in Aalmon's
opinion - Icthya is likely to treat as a prison or a zoo, more than
anything else. He ponders for a while, providing what comfort he can to
the sick Elf [2].
1] Roll 20 for resistance (any relevant ability?), roll 14 for 'world',
success vs fumble failure, equivalent of major defeat, equivalent of
'injured'.
2] If you like left over Hero Points from when you were previously
participating can go into "Peloria Geography" or similar which can aid
you in this attempt, as it suits the character's history.
