Aalmon joins the circle of elven archers as they plan their tactics. "I
am Aalmon, called the Far-Rider. I have seen battle against the Demons
of War and survived and I plan to survive battle against the undead with
as many of you as I can manage.
I have held council and I know what our overall plan for the battle is,
I will reveal only some of those details to you as the battle progresses
for if any of you were to be captured we could not afford our full plans
to fall into the hands of the enemy. I can remain in contact with our
allies and friends and will inform them of our progress. If this seems
hard to you I am sorry but amongst us this burden should be shared by as
few as possible. As to how you manage your troops and use them best -
that is for you as you are the leaders of this army, this is not the
time for desperate last-ditch charges it is a time to use your people to
their best effect by skirmishing and harassing the enemy. If a desperate
time should come I will speak with you again and we will decide what to do.
Our job for the night is to disrupt and delay the army as much as we can
and if possible draw them upriver from the city to slow them down and
make their crossing as difficult as it can be. You are reputed to be the
best archers in Glorantha so I am sure you can do some damage if you
target it right. There is little use spending arrows on the summoned
dead, you should concentrate your attacks on the wizards an vampires
that command them, without direction they will lose formation and cease
to be an effective part of the army. When the army eventually does push
through to the city walls we should retreat a little to rest and regroup
for the battles that will follow, until then it is going to be a hard night.
The terrain is your home and you should be able to move faster and
without being seen. Also on our side is that the moon is full and so my
magics are at their most powerful, I will move to where you think the
fighing most intense and grant your best archers the blessings of the
moon and stars - to see in the dark, to be unseen and to strike our
enemies with arrows burning with the fire of the stars themselves.
The forest stands here around us and your task is - as ever - to defend
it. In this you have allies unexpected and perhaps unlooked for. The
enemy has a vast army but you are defending a new home for the Aldryami
and the men of evil need to know that they cannot lightly march into
your homes looking for conquest. Seek out their officers and wizards and
show them what an Aldryami archer can do, send enough of them to the
underworld that the men of evil will remember this day for another age
and always fear to tread in the woods of Aldrya. Good luck and good
hunting gentlemen."
OOC: Aalmon will try to use his inspiring speach feat to help out here,
as he seems to think their morale is a little fragile. He will continue
to use that at any time he sees the troops waver. He will also use his
combat, perception and stealth magics to enhance the troops - and
especially the archers - so they can take out as many of the commanders
of the undead as they can manage.
