A psychic and moral crisis, after all if there is nothing wrong with
chaos then what does that mean when he kills chaos? Faced with the
reality of chaos, and his instinctive reaction against it, he has to
reconcile its horror with his mystic beliefs or else "fall off the
wagon" and adopt a sort of nihilistic dark reflection of the views of
illumination. An illuminate does not really *believe* in anything but
the mystic viewpoint of illumination, if the experience makes him doubt
that then he has nothing left to believe in that gives him any sort of
moral compass.
