Azhur looked at Nauticles toughly.
- “Nauticles, may I ask if it is the wise man dedicated to truth or the vibrant patriot who advices us just right now? he asked very seriously to the bearded priest. I have to admit that I feel quite skeptical there. Not that I wouldn’t be happy to help to liberate a nation from a foreign empire, but I’m tied by my duty to my own land. Being involved in the coming war in Dragon Pass can delay us for a very long time or even for ever if we get killed in some ill-fated battle… each day lost for us is a day where the Kingdom of War becomes stronger and more invincible. Unless we take a caravan from here to Lei Tabor through Dragon Pass and the Praxian Wastes, a cruel trip if I believe only half of the travel stories I have read on this barbarian lands, I can’t see the advantage of traveling on land upon the choice ofowing reach at least Corflu.”
Uncertain and looking quite tired, Azhur added:
- “ I don’t know… I think that all the members of the Fellowship should consult and make a decision, we are at a crossroads and it is necessary to us to choose between a long and certain delay against an unknown delay... and while we are debating, if you could find some answers to my questions on Seseine worshipers and the lunar twin-stars, you would be quite helpful to me.”
[OOC]
Of course the player would LOVE being involved into the HeroWars in Dragon Pass, but Azhur need a good reason for that. Perhaps Karala's quest to save the Telmori? (Azhur promised to help, so his duty will dictate him to follow her, wherever she goes).
Speaking about hunshen, I've got a proposition for Dougie aka Karala to make Azhur the civilized malkioni nearer to her hunshen way of life, this to give us a chance to share more than our goal to save Fronela (a concern since the beginning of the game).
If you have followed all the details on Azhur, you perhaps know that's part of Azhur's ancestry is ralian. Zorscam was in Ralios a standard bearer for Talor and Arkat. Probably he or his children imported some arkati beliefs in Loskam before the ban because Azhur's father, Lord Daymare, is still leading an undetermined arkati sect there (in Azhur's 100 words description).
The name Daymare could be a clue as is also the family coat of arms: a standing golden mare on an blue background (Azhur's PC sheet since the first version). Horse and Sun are frequently linked in Glorantha.
Of course, the virtuous motto "In plain Light, In plain Sight" seems now to be more a devious provocation to me. For an officially hrestoli family, hiding an heresy of arkatism, with pagan gods worship and perhaps even darkness powers worship behind a dazzing sunlighting mare could be a typical arkati cryptic paradox (or a wicked guile).
But anyway if in some occasion, Azhur would have the occasion to explore further his ancestry bloodline, he would perhaps learn more on his origins... and discover that perhaps he is partly being from the past Arkem men of old Loskalm, but also partly from the Galanini of past Ralios.
See for example
http://www.pensee.com/dunham/ralios/galanini.html
If Azhur discovers that he has some distant hunshen blood, he would certainly feel nearer to Karala and all the "savage tribes of the wilderness"... and without abandoning his challenged malkioni faith, he would also have the possibility to spent some HP in his common magic in this direction, making him definitively an outsider in the orthodox malkioni religion, but nearer to the average followship member (thus making Zorscam nearer and the Guardian of the Standard also nearer to Karala and other PCs).
- What do you think about that ? Lev? Dougie?

Nauticles nods sagely at Azhur's comments, and especially the requests
of the Luatha. He tugs at his beard thoughtfully, as only the Lhankor
Mhy can and carefully weighs up his words.
"Well, one can hardly go about rejecting the advice of a demi-god, can
they? And let's face it that's what those morose singing angels of the
sunset are. However, I wonder if they were being a little cryptic in
their suggestion, as the immortals often are."
"At the moment, as you would have realised coming here, the winds are
not favourable, indeed non-existent. It is true that you could use up
the Power of your elemental, but that would hardly be efficient."
"I have reason to believe - based on the revival of past stories of the
Great Darkness - that if the invading armies are defeated by the Iron
Ring of rebel Satarites who have not submitted, then the winds will blow
again - thus meaning you will be able to continue your journey with
greater, rather than less speed. Further, I believe that Karala wishes
to visit Wild Temple in Beast Valley and this would indeed be on your
way if you participated in this action."
"Yao Fune, I have heard of through an esoteric contact I have in an
almost unknown city called Lei Tabor, but I know little. He is a
peasant, and a leader of a pacifist religious cult with many adherents."
"The Blue Moon Plateau lies to the north of the Lunar Heartland, a place
inhabited by trolls. As the name indicates - and I have no reason to
dispute them - it is part of the Blue Moon, the Troll and Lunar goddess
also known as Annilla who, as any sailor will tell, controls the tides."
"That Yao Fune has the flail of Talor's Companions does not surprise me.
He is probably using it as a grain threshing device. Why the trolls
would have the greatsword however is beyond me."
"For the Godlearner, I can also speak a little on Sunstorm as it bears
some mention in even the old records of his people. Sunstorm is the name
of a deity that the 'learners attempted to create during their rule in
the east, and a very ambitious one at that. The great powers of Yelm the
Sun God and Orlanth, the Storm God were to be combined. Yes, I know this
is shocking. But the idea was to create a deity that would combine the
strengths of both."
"Of course, the project failed, and the broken God lies in the holls of
Jankley Bore, far in the Bliss of Ignorance, a kingdom known for its
ghosts, monstrosities and rulers who live on the trade of mind-altering
drugs."
