All fine. But, in this sort of situation, I happen to think it would
be really interesting if one character *did* try to kill another, or
whatever (when it makes sense etc). HQ has a huge safety buffer to
prevent unexpected deaths of characters.

Conflict resolution is at its best when you have two possibly
interesting outcomes and you let the dice decide. Character vs.
character (with player buy-in of course) conflict is a double whammy.

One of the situations of most potential interest for me was in a game
of Paul's where Soren and I had set up a situation where our
characters embarked upon a duel (his character, a professional
duellist, was sleeping with my character's wife and taking his money
via the wife; the duel was for a different entanglement, though). Paul
was only just starting the game off so interrupted the duel, which I
think was a great shame. It would have been fantastic - my character
would likely have lost and have been at the mercy of Soren's. I happen
to know and trust Soren as a player, of course.

So, if Nic's character starts going crazy near to mine, I might well
ask Nic if he minds my character using his as a pincushion - I mean,
there is a reason his character might go crazy; if another character
has to try to kill him, it only brings that issue (which Nic put on
his character sheet at the start) to front and centre.

Another thing - regicide...don't forget my character doesn't give two
hoots about human fuedal structures. Just like other folks' characters
don't give two hoots about burning a load of trees (try Icthya asking
if Azhur minds throwing a few of his humans into the river so she can
cross it, for example). I am avoiding using that as an excuse for
things, but if I discard it totally, the character is, as I said
before, just another DnD human who happens to have pointy ears,
infravision and possibly some Pre-Raphaelite wistfulness.

Sam :)
