He narrows his eyes for a moment staring at the misbehaving piece then
starts to talk as he takes out an amulet and ties it round the black
king "Ah but if the miserable priest is hiding he is still has regalia
that belong to church and state. As a heretic, apostate and traitor
those items are currently lost to the true Church and the Kingdom. He
might hide from my puny magics but under the full red moon no hidden
item can long remain lost."

"Nor can he hide from the night sky without going to ground" he lays a
strange foreign fetish on the board and mutters words of praise to the
spirit within "for the stars are my eyes when the sky is dark."

He moves the pieces back a couple of moves and with the aid of his true
scrying magics tries again to put each piece in it proper place.

OOC: He would not ignore an opportunity to use his more powerful magics
on the full moon, if only to impress everyone as that is currently one
of his main motivations. The Hunt for Lost Items amulet is a pretty
powerful augment on the full moon and the View from the Stars is decent
enough. Oh and I have a rating of 14 for the chess set on my character
sheet, I think that was from the last HP spend.

That lot turns it into failure vs success, I guess he can spare a HP to
turn the tables :)
