Scene 58: The Charge of the Elf Brigade (and Other
Stories)

Rather than do these scenes in one block, I'll do them
each scene at a time because there is a notable time
lag between each one.

The first is Icthya's charge, the second scene will be
Anzhur in the dungeons, and the third will be Knarl
and the Telmori arriving merging with the fourth scene
will being Kalen and the Dwarves...

Without anymore ado, the charge of the Elf brigade...

Icthya's centaur fetish, Moment Yearning, leaped at
directly at the Vampire directing Zombies. Icthya
herself took the opportunity against the Vampire
directing the skeletons. Witnessing their leader's
sudden strikes, the Aldryami fell upon the zombies and
skeletons with sudden strikes, their spear-staves
smashing and skewering the undead. The skeleton and
zombies fell quickly; their vampiric leaders with more
comptence. Before it was felled, the chill hand of the
undead with inhuman strength touched Icthya and she
felt the spirit of life physically drain from her; but
through force of will she shrugged off the effects -
for now.

Icthya's violet eyes glowed with anger and excitement
as she looked over the bridge. The unearthly howl of
the dying Vampires, forever torn from the cycle of
rebirth, had alerted others to their presence.
Although they numbered in their hundreds, and the
chasseur d'adryami numbered in their dozens, Icthya
grimly called upon the sentient trees to attack for
the future of the forest. Inspired, dedicated, and led
by the fetish Moment Yearning's crushing hooves, the
Elf army smashed into the concentrated forces

It was magnificant, but it was not war. It was sheer
folly.

The first wave was indeed a great victory for the
Elves. With the benefits of surprise and the crushing
hooves of Moment Yearning [augment +13 all up], many
dozens of the the Undead were dispatched into the Deu.
Quickly the Vampiric leaders took control of their
hordes, realising that the numbers were in their
favour. The noble Elves made some more headway,
gradually pushing the Undead back, but at a painfully
slow speed, as the Undead eventually steadied their
line and through sheer weight of numbers began to wear
down on their opponents.

Icthya, seeing that the momentum had stopped rallied
the few dozen remaining Elves another charge, and
directed an assault group towards a group of three
Vampires being carried across the stream; they pushed
the foul abonimations into the running water where
their screams demoralised their kin. The Aldryami
again pushed their advantage, as temporary as this
could be.

They had fought well, Icthya's Elves. Five score of
their number had fallen, and they had penetrated deep
into the ranks of the Undead, with over twenty score
of the Undead gone forever.

But now there was but two dozen of the noble Elves
left; and still several hundred undead. Undead to the
front of them, Undead behind them, Undead bodies
scattered in the Deu.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Elf Brigade,
Noble twelve dozen!

[
Mechanics of play: Elves at A/D of 3/3 or in HQ terms,
17/17. Skeletons and Zombies average at 3/2, or 17/13.
There is approximately 150 Elves and some 1500 Zombies
and Skeletons.

Wave #1, Aldryami roll a 3 and the Undead and 18 for
the Elf attack, with augments that becomes a critical
versus a failure for the Undead, resulting in a Major
Defeat. I presume a bump for 1 HP to Total, and remove
retaliation for the Undead, and reduce their numbers
by 100.

Wave #2, Aldryami roll a 17 and the Undead a 16 for
the Elf attack; that's a success versus a failure, or
a minor victory for the Aldryami, reducing the Undead
numbers by 50 and the Elves by 25. In response, the
Undead roll roll a 10 and the Aldryami also roll a 10,
a complete tie! Both Elves and Undead reduced by 25.

Wave #3, Alryami roll a 6, success, and the Undead an
18, a failure, so a minor success again for the Elves,
reduce Undead by 50 and Elves by 25. In response, the
Undead roll roll a 12, a success, and the Aldryami a
7, a marginal victory for the Elves, again Undead
reduced by 50, Elves by 25.

Wave #4, Aldryami roll a 1(!), a critical, and the
Undead an 18 (yes, I know, that's three 18's I've
rolled), a failure, resulting in a Major Defeat. I
presume another HP to turn that into a Total Defeat
without retaliation? Reduce Undead by 100.

Wave #5, Aldryami roll a 10, a success, and the Undead
a 19, another failure, meaning another minor success
for the Elves, reducing their numbers by 25 and
reducing the Undead by 50.
