"I have no story to tell them," Icthya says, her caution obvious in
the lack of a greeting. "I was shooting arrows at their troops because
I wished to see how the barbarians' spirits would respond to the
blood. I have no interest in this little war, and I do not care much
who wins it. I have travelled with a man from one side of the argument
and a woman from the other. You are just different people.

"I suggested to the others that we travel through your Empire in
peace, seeking help where we could. But they chose to ally themselves
to the other side, for some reason. It will be difficult, now, to
reach the far north.

"So, Aalmon, can we concoct a useful story from all that? I don't
know. If you freed my bonds, I could most likely get away. But for
now, if we have a little time, I am curious as to how you ended up
here?"
