The banner still hangs limply in an environment that has no wind.

Purple? I know it's cold, but that bat's still Red ;)

OK, not everything that you listed applied as you correctly guessed but
you still managed to rally a modest force, using the standard modifiers
to magic, but with community support (+4) also applicable (plus a
thoroughly average roll of 10 with the base ability of "Convince
Others".

Azhur races about calling various stragglers to rally; some are clearly
too far gone, maddened by the bat's keening cry. But among those who are
in an 'organised rout', Azhur wheels his noble steed about them, and
calls upon their honour - and all he manages to regain the trust and
support of six disparate and desperate groups of Orlanthi warriors and
their leaders and in doing so brings them to protect Kalen...

Won't get rid of demoralisation, but will provide a benefit if attacked.
Roll 14, versus 10, so will require 1 HP spent.

No negatives per se, but really does knock your self-confidence and
capacity to engage in aggressive action..

Oh, they'll make an appearance soon enough..
