Scene 87: Fiery the Angels Fell...
Azhur rallied a number of soldiers around Kalen as the Crimson Bat
headed towards the Dwarf; with the increased numbers the bat squirted
magic across the plains with success [roll 15 versus 19, 12, 16, 12,
10], draining the divine magic of those struck, and then lashed out with
its three tongues [one in four chance of hitting Kalen each as that is
its preferred target; 4, 2, 2] each of which caught [roll 6, 3, 11
versus 7, 9, 7 defense] an Orlanthi and dragged the poor souls to its
gaping maw. Now within range the Crimson Bat also released its acidic
tentacles at the small force from its lips [quantity d100, roll 6!]
grapping random victims and taking them into its mouth [one in seven
chance of PC group, all others Orlanthi forces, roll 3, 4, 7, 4, 5, 1 -
oops!]. The Tentacles grabbed hold of [roll 1 = Azhur, 2 = Blackmane, 3
= Othor, 4 = Swordsinger, 5 = Kalen, 6 = Rikku, roll 1] Azhur from his
and began to drag [attack chance 20, roll 5, defense by Azhur?] the
Western Knight to the mouth of the beast.
Meanwhile a small rubble runner, climbed into the Crimson Bat's ear and
positioned the Dwarved grendade firmly; following the advice from Kalen,
Rotterex pressed down on the handle, pulled the pin with his teeth and
scurried away (roll 2 for Scamper Quickly ability 14, an actual Rubble
Runner ability) and jumped from the height (roll 7 for fall, no damage).
There a muffled roar, with a sudden augmentation from Rikku (roll 11 for
Fire Rune magic) which caused great damage to the Bat (roll 11, average
damage, for ability rating of W4 - hey, it has a *grenade* in its ear,
causing 8 levels of damage, no effective armour, resistance with great
size, roll 18.. just not good enough), indeed blowing a huge portion of
it's head off.
As the Demon fell to the ground, there was a cry in unison from the Sun
Dome templars; the snowstorm ceased for a moment and beams of light came
down from Yelm smashing into the back of the Bat, burning the priests.
Kalen and the Telmori charged in the remaining numbers breaking them and
causing a great rout. And among this Swordsinger, breathed deeply and
sadly, picking up the banner which fluttered the breeze. Where was his
master?
PS: Sorry for the delay people.. But I can say, Rolemaster Cyradon final
draft has been submitted!
