[HQ Ignorance] Scene 109: The Entrance to Hell

(Having checked out the archives to find out what I missed)

Aalmon saw the monsters eat their way out of the walls as the gopher people disappeared with a strange feeling, almost of relief. Betrayal, ambush, unwelcome and yet familiar - fate was back to her old tricks and at least he was on familiar ground. No use fighting an ambush, those sort of heroics were for the death or glory types not for him. When in an ambush its time to survive and then see if you can pick up the pieces afterwards. For a moment they would be distracted by the Fourth's remarkable attack, that was his opportunity.

He looked at the talisman in his hand, seeing which one it was he wryly realised that his nose for trouble had been working even if he had been distracted by all the weirdness with poems and oaths. He whispered words of power to the talisman and let the lunar spirit out to wrap its shielding darkness around him, then with the instincts of a courier - or perhaps a loner all too willing to abandon his comrades - he made for the quickest way out of the ambush.

(OOC he is releasing his Planet Spirit for it to add its Hide in Darkness rating to his Survive Battle. He is trying to augment with his Loner trait and his Assess Quickest Route skill, I think he should take a negative augment from his relationship to Talor's fellowship for this! I am not if sure that the Nose for Trouble is an augment or just an explanation for a ready magic, take your pick. Ratings are heavily dependent on the phase of the moon as the spirits rating is a base 17W3. Unheroic though this is, this might be a good time to spend a HP)
