Aalmon looks at his silent companion and shrugs, he seemed to be on his own for this one.

"General, I can give you something that may be worth little or may be worth everything - insight." He began to take out his chess pieces and lay them out carefully one by one on the board "come, sit and I will try to explain."

As he began to set out the pawns he spoke gently, slightly lost in reverie

"The last time I used these pieces was on the other side of the world, our band were a few foreigners trying our best to evade the clutches of the armies of undeath and chaos. As I played the pieces began to represent the unfolding war around us and each move of the pieces gave me insight into which of our allies was weak or strong and which of our enemies vulnerable or unassailable." He placed the black king "it revealed to us the secret of who was the true master of the forces that we faced. Those insights guided me and with them a small band of travellers overturned a tyrant, threw down a false religion and placed my former friend Azhur - an unknown foreigner - on the throne of the mighty kingdom of Seshnela."

With the pieces set he looked up at the general again "Whether you will gain the insight to gain victory, or how you act on the insight, I cannot control. All the same I offer you this insight. It will be for you to judge if it is worth more or less than some of the time of one of your followers. So come, play with me"

OOC: If the general accepts then Aalmon will genuinely try to use the powers of the chess set to give the general some insight into the situation he is in, he will augment with his Play chess and his Reveal Secrets magic - which if I have been keeping track of time is at half power today.
