To give a summary of what you know...

You attended a puppet show and woke up, transformed into wooden puppets
yourself and were hidden away by a raven-haired puppet named Zifu.

Zifu tells you that Puppetland was once ruled by the Maker, but one day
he simply disappeared. Now two puppets fight over puppetland, one a
mighty wizard who seeks to know the skills of the Maker, but not for
good. The other is the General of the Toy Soldiers, but he also seeks to
rule all. The
people hide in fear...

On one side of Puppetland there is an enormous tower made of iron with
steam pouring out of its sides and with the clank of metal on metal, and
puppet guards marching around the parapets. On the other side is another
tower, equally tall, but enshrouded in darkness with ghostly apparitions
flying around it and the howling of the dead. Between the two and half
as high again is a dark canvas and in that canvas is a torn hole which
light does not penetrate.

Rikku runic vision allowed him to see "The normal runes of the Eastern
people are not abound here... Strange, I see many runes of Mostal The
Maker. Indeed that is dominant. You, me, us.. We are all carrying the
rune of Mostal!"

"But the other runes here are old, unrefined. The tower of the general
carries the cross, the rune of the sword, of death, and of mastery. That
howling tower has spirit and magic. Almost redundant."

"Interesting", he says, with a stutter. That runes of that fabric,
they're draconic. But the gap... Nothing.. No, I really mean nothing.
Darkness I could understand. Even, although it would be cause for alarm,
Chaos. But there is *nothing* there."

The Abiding Book confirms your suspicions, that you're on the Hero
Plane.. It also makes mention that Aalmon and The Fourth are at the
gates of Lei Tabor...
