Yup real life the shield existed for a good reason, it stopped arrows
easily and turned quite a lot of hits away.
Skill was needed to get past a good shield, though some could chop
through it.
In both cases it did its job and made the opponent have to work at
getting to you
PnP gets a lot of that flavor and a heavy armored person with shield
skill can be hard to stop.

But PnP also has gang up rules and nasty effects for someone behind you
giving them a chance to find a weak spot
No one is immune if you work at it

LOL yes you do not try to take on diety class dragons with a starting
group usually.
With more time to learn things and prepare it would still have been hard
to do
A 2x rated Elder Dragon is a DnD great worm, an epic encounter.
In PnP even starting characters have a slight chance unlike Dnd instant
death, but not far from it
With a more powerful Bow and better planned defenses, Romidar had a
chance but at best an even one.
NAV12 is hard to puncture with arrows and he had to do so many times!

But Romidar would not mind dying if the dragon was killed as well, it is
a major victory for Sidh
