At temple Kota, a lone individual, Balu Malew, a sailor far from the
ocean, stumbles about in confusion among the smouldering landscape.
Nearby is the unconscious body of a faerry, Romidar, and some yards from
there is the broken bodies of the noble Mori Farcutter, Dwarven warrior
and and Dridian, the Goidan wizard. Next to them is the broken body of a
great Elder Dragon, black blood oozing from the wounds that Mori gave
it, the spear which ended its life still embedded in its throat where
Dridian stabbed it.

An observing all this is one Thexton, the Dwarven guide from Kril
Shrandor. He had already dealt with Brennus the Fierazi shaman. "The
woodsman was not used to the dangers of sheer surfaces...", he would
have explained. But now there was no need to. With some care he stalked
his way behind Balu and dispatched him as well, and making his way
around he eventually found the unconscious faerry. More bodies among the
ruins, who would be counting?

Licking his lips he took the Spear of the Fierazi out of the Dragon's
side. He would make his way back to the Kril Shrandor where he would be
recognised as a hero for recovering the Spear, he would sing about how
noble strangers defeated the Elder Dragon of Temple Kota, but alas, were
slain themselves in the effort. But first, he would make his way to the
now-unguarded Dragon's cave. He would have to hurry, for soon the
goblins would find their courage and investigate the scene of the
battle.

Many leagues away, far to the south, a young, somewhat unsure man,
stumbled as near-mindless scorpion men made their way towards him. He
muttered something in a language he did not know and a few tendrils of
flame came from his fingers. Alas, he spell had failed. The aggravated
creatures swamped the young man and dashed his brains in the desert
rocks him with their clubs. Then they would wander off confused and
lost without their queen. Some days later, Adad and Sargon, two
bull-headed warriors collect his body and the daggers he carried and
return to their Tower, where they give the brave Tomus a full burial
rite, in accordance to their faith.

The Runestaff remains in place. The quest of mortals to become like gods
remains for another time.
