Last fortnight the noble venturers went towards the
lair of Arachne. First they bypassed a gateway that
showed an desert landscape. Reaching the doorway to
Arachne's keep, they discovered than entrance was
prevented by a woven cloth lock which resisted flame
and magic spells.

Returning to the gate to a desert landscape, they
entered and found themselves transported in front of a
large red mountain; in the distance strange creatures
bound in the distance. Taking shelter from the
incredible heat in a cave they were viciously attacked
by giant primitive spiders with a savage poison, other
with an wicked red hour-glass, and by spell-casting
drow and hill giants.

Eventually the PCs defeated the servants of Arachne,
albeit with some losses. Climbing the mountain they
met a dark-skinned shaman in the night who had an
uncanny ability to detect the invisible and hidden.
With his numerous glowing red eyes, he explained
Arachne's plan of revenge upon the Gods, by taking
establishing a monopoly of weavers across time and
space.

Taking some woven string from the shaman, the
venturers travelled to the next gateway which was
located in ancient Egypt in the necropolis of Memphis,
whereupon they were attacked this time by more Drow
and giant scorpians. Defeating these opponents and
entering the temple, they debated and bribed a group
of sphinxes; an androsphinx, a gynosphinx, a
criosphinx, and a hierocosphinx. When eventually
placated, the sphinxes explained their generous employ
by Arachne, but provided a spindle to the characters
as they disliked Arachne's plan to overthrow the Gods.

...

There are four more gateways, however some of these
will be very quick to conclude. The real challenge
(and most time consuming) will be confronting
Arachne herself.

The session will start at 2pm SHARP. It'll probably
run a little longer; I'm planning for a 7pm finish.
