[Design] Game Settings Please.... some thing i can work with...

Game setting will be stable (well, I have a metaplot
issue for later on, but for the time being...)
A slightly fantastic version of Malay archipelago
C16th has been the place most extensively looked at.
Damn bugger to map tho' ;-)
Character types include;
* European merchants and soldiers, mainly Spanish and
Portuguese. These people have big ships and guns, but
they don't know or understand the area.
* Regional (Arabic, Chinese) merchants and sometimes
soldiers. These people have shallow vessel ships, and
some local area knowledge.
* Indigenous "civilized" Malay culture. Townspeople,
mainly all Hindu or Muslim (currently fighting each
other - Muslim's winning hands down). Very good area
knowledge and a dash of the supernatural.
* Indigenous "primitive" Malay culture. Villagers,
pretty much pagan/animist. No guns, no big ships but
exceptional area knowledge and exceptional knowledge
of the "magic" of the region.
* Other creatures. Apart from normal and strange
elaborations on the pretty odd creatures that
live/lived in the region already (Komodo Dragon,
Javanese White Rhino, Javanese/Balinese Tigers,
Panthers), Homo Florensis

etc the various Hindu mythical creatures are right at
home (Hanuman The Monkey God, the Garuda etc) as well
as Muslim demons etc.
