Hello Lev and everybody else,
Trying to explore how to change the Red Banner of Valor of House Daymare into the Guardian of the Talor's fellowship, I found a funny idea.
Lev writed :
> Heck maybe even the Banner can become the Guardian!
This for sure, this our most potential device for the moment... a grotaron, well, humm... of course let's think about this one too ;-)
> In any case you'll need a method, communications,
> guardian requirements and magical functions.
> 1) The method can be a an insubstantial being
> (archetype), an emanation (usually embodied in a
> physical object), or a manifestation (a person - e.g.,
> the grotaron).
The thing should be a really neutral symbol to accepted by every belief that we have within our group.
The banner and a Vexilla are near to one each other, that's why Alamond was thinking about it, but you said that Azhur would rely more on a western reliquary... unless we have something more pagan like a potential arkati device coming from Azhur's family past...
What about animist belief on this ?
> 2) The communications system can either be to a party
> leader, or to the group. It can be via symbolic
> manifestations, encoded language or normal speech.
> It's up to you.
This is the funny part : Imagine that the Banner is a long lost guardian with its encoded speech on it (remember the description? "Big sized, strange inscriptions in an ancient and forgotten language were embroidered in black on both sides").
Imagine that the guardian is trying desesperatly to communicate since centuries!!! :-D
Anybody able to read it and to understand it, could then communicate with it... but nobody remember the language, tricky no?
Perhaps if someone remarks that the inscriptions are changing from time to time... this would be a clue to begin with?
> 3) The requirements are of course a restriction of
> some sort that the guardian requires each member of
> the fellowship to engage in, otherwise it will withold
> its magic. Again, I'm open to suggestions.
Well If the Banner is linked to Arkat, it is linked to Arkat's fight against Gabji, fighting Gabji is linked to Talor, Talor is linked to Talor's fellowhsip = we've got a link, if the mission is a more general one : like being dedicated to fight Gabji's manifestations.
Because a probleme could be that Arkat and Talor can be opposed in some point of view, the first was a traitor, the second a loyal one, wasn't they ? ;-)

I have written in scene 4:
"It is said to inspire allies and terrorize enemies"
and on my PC sheet :
Old Banner of the Red Valor of Ancestors :
- Truce and Negotiation (14)
- No harm from Uz of Ralios if unfurled (no level because not tested)
Could be "Truce and Negotiation" a defensive power ?a blessing ?
Could be "terrorize enemies" a blessing ? a defensive power ?
Loran, just thinking
