OOC: I did roll for all this!
A strangely coloured Vroluti leaped towards Donalari,
and Ureban swung wild in his attempt to protect
Donalari. The fell beast fell upon her, but it was
stuck deep in the back by Vicetor, his page who
screamed in pain as the poison and blood covered his
hand and arm.
Kalen Ironhand reached into his pack with grim
clarity. He held aloft a dull iron ball. "A Holy Hand
Grenade of Nidan!", he exclaimed, throwing the object
in the midst of the Vroluti. Upon contact with water
the object exploded mightily, sending shards of metal
into many of the fell beasts. Such was the force of
the explosion and the sharpness of the metal that
three were utterly shredded, another two were killed,
and two escaped with bloody wounds from which oozed
their fell blood.
Dorassa, guard of Jareena, through he javelin into one
of the remaining beasts, and Da followed with his axe,
downing another. Still more came; and Jareena speared
one mightily, and Da brought down his sword on
another. Nearby, the still mounted Azhur was covered
by his squire Othor, and his spike which skewered one
of vroluti, but another made it past his guard,
wounding Azhur's steed from underneath with spear and
horn. Azhur desperately tried to strike the creature
but to no avail, until the third blow when he caught
it on the back of its neck.
Judge Kraken fired his lawgiver crossbow, but the shot
was askew. A vroluti was upon him, and it's twisted
teeth bit deeply into his visage. Stumbling in pain,
he drew his mace as El Grim swung at the beast with
his ancestral sword Tizona, the strike was true, but
not before two of the beasts had leapt upon his great
horse. He turned and dispatched of one, but not before
its spear stabbed him in the small of the back just
penetrating his armour.
The other leaped away from the shining blade and,
along with the rest of the vroluti, fled back into the
swamp. They had lost almost half their number in the
initial exchange and no doubt were now thoroughly
aware of the strength of the fellowship. There was
little doubt in the minds of those present that the
fell beasts would return.
Even in the midst of this carnage, Aalmon The Bastard
spied Ithyca the Aldyrami talking to her strange
shape-shifting racoon dog, and a wave of empathy swept
over him. Whilst all around him was the evidence of
corrupt, the elf was life and the bounty of nature. So
it was that Ithyca's Tanuki had indeed ventured to a
part of the swamp which seemed relatively free of
chaotic taint, and on a small hummock she espied a
frolicking mudskipper, apparently oblivious to the
chaos and carnage that surrounded it.
Karala continud her spiritual lookout, and detected
two great sources of great Power, one directly below
where Ithyca and one, so much greater, some two to
three leagues north, deeper into the Swamp. In but a
moment she realised what it was; the Nameless Man and
he was heading towards Ithyca very quickly indeed.
