"Greetings Rotterex. I am very sorry to hear of your plight. I know how dangerous the outside world is, it's much safer and pleasant underground. I am very sorry to hear that some of your clan have been injured by this."

Kalen thinks that the damned plant is partially responsible for this problem but knows that the distraction is necessary in order to get to the broken king. He wonders how he should explain this to Rotterex.....

"I think my companions and I might be able to stop this" Kalen says haltingly, considering his words carefully as he doesn't wish to be attacked. "Once we have gotten rid of the king, things are likely to return to their former state and you will be safe in this underground haven. But first we need to get to the king"

Several of the bazak pounce upon the offerings of
canned stew. They grimace as they chew into the
culinary delights of the Mostal, but nevertheless they
eat ravenously. Kalen now notices that they are indeed
somewhat thin.

"You will call me Rotterex", says the talking Bazak.
"One there was many people coming in and out of this
city and there were plenty of scraps for us to feed on
in the eve. Suddenly, several days ago, all that come
to an end. We have been forced to come out to the
surface, in the day even, and the humans protect their
food with ferocity. Already several of our number have
been blasted by their magics and their spears."

"And now you have arrived", Rooterex looks
suspiciously. "One would be tempted to think you have
something to do with this..."

A disconcerting sound of teeth bruxing echoes through
the chamber from the other bazak.
