As the majority of the Fellowship travelled in
Kanthor's Woods from the Castle Coast, they dearly
wished for the the presence of Icthya. The woods were
dark and moist and very foreboding. Beast and his
trollkin were particularly concerned, as this was
clearly the realm of the enemy, although they would
not show it. Indeed, they complimented the region on
the taste and fatness of its insects they
occassionally consumed, and the variety of mushrooms
available.
After a day's journey Tallboot The Centaur expressed
his concerns to the Fellowship. "This is very strange.
We have travelled deep into the woods into the realm
of the Wolfbrothers, yet we have seen none of them,
and little evidence of their presence, except for the
smells and stools which mark their borders. We are in
the outskirts of their lands at least. Where are
they?"
His comment, purely rhetorical, troubled the
Fellowship for the rest of the day for they did not
see any of the Wolves during the second day. "What
strangeness we have descended to!", remarked the ever
cryptic Aalmon, "That now we wish the appearance of
the Werewolves!"
Early that evening as the moons hung low overhead,
Aalmon received his wish. The reflective blood red
eyes of the wolf brothers could be seen on the
perimeter of the campfire. When it was obvious that he
had been spotted, he came forth, a young man of noble
bearing and lithe body, carrying a rune-encrusted
spear of black wood. Emotionless he sat down among the
Fellowship.
"I am Fioros", he began, ranger of the western border
for the Kingdom of the Wolf Brothers. You are in his
lands, and I must give due warning that strangers are
rarely welcomed here. It is only due to the presence
of Tallboot among you that you still live. Explain
your presence."
Tallboot whinnied and explained to Fioris that the
travellers had come from Loskalm and Fronela and
Railos and had been to the court of Lord Tierre,
friend of the Beastmen. They sought to right the wrong
that has led to the Telmori Curse as their personal
duty and have the lineage to do so. They seek personal
audience with Wilkairtha."
Fioros scanned the party carefully. After an
uncomfortable period of time, he considered thoughts
came to him.
"This may not be immediately possible. Wilkairtha has
gathered most of the tribe and has travelled east to
the plains of Seshnela. A great war has began between
the people of Railos and Seshnela, of which I would be
surpised if you were not aware of. But these are
trivial to the danger that Wilkairtha and the Wolf
brethren face."
"The army of Nolos has marched in Seshnela. It stayed
for three days and three nights at the old castle of
the Vampire King."
"They have taken that form. An army of Vampires. The
knights of southern Seshnela fell like leaves in front
of such a force and have been scattered to the winds.
Now all that stands between these lands and the
perpetual stench of undeath is the immortal
Wilkairtha. May the Gods bless him in this holy mission."
