Scene 38: Wilkairtha's Den

With the news of Wilkairtha's campaign against the
Vampires of Nolos, Tallboot The Centaur gave his leave
to the Fellowship. "I must inform the other Beastmen
of these events and travel between the keeps on the
Castle Coast, tho' I bear no great friendship with
many of their lords. If the servants of Vivamort have
revived again from the Red Ruins then all people who
value life are under threat".

So with the rump Fellowship, Fioros of Noble Bearing
did lead to Wilkairtha's Den, which caused great
surprise among the newcomers. For it was constructed
both underground in a cave complex in the style of
Troll Darkmen, but it was also of masonry, like that
of the Dwarven Stonemen, and yet again furnished with
living foliage in the style of the Elven Flora. Above
ground deer and pigs were loosely penned, with wide
enclosures and trees for them to maneuver. "We eat
much flesh here", Fioros explained baring his canine
teeth, "but we respect those we consume".

In the eve the people of the Den gathered together
with the lupine brothers, and there was much
discussion and eating, despite the coldness of the
night and the fact that nearly all those of fighting
age had left with Wilkairtha; only old dogs and
bitches with pup remained. The Telmori were indeed
fascinated by the prospect that the Curse of the
Laughing Warrior could be removed, and were much
interested in Karala and the White Wolf: In the
morning that followed a number, including the old
shaman, joined in her ecstatic dance which summoned
forth Spirits of Fire which took the form of burning
embers to be called when required.

Fioros then led the party to the edge of Kanthor
Woods. "On behalf of Wilkairtha I thank you for your
offer of assistance against the children of Vivamort
and to release us from our Curse. Travel east along
the Deu River and you will soon reach the new Forest
of Seguarne. Do not travel at night, for our scouts
say there are many of the Undead present at that
time". To Karala he handed a gnawed bone: "Take this
as a symbol to Wilkairtha and he will know that you
have met with me".

With that he turned back into the wood. A heavy wind
blew in from the West and rain began to fall heavily
from the overcast sky.

Just another reminder of the map of where we are. The
rump Fellowship exits near the Beast Rune west of the
Deu River on the left-hand section of the map.
