I still prefer cards to dice ;-p
It's the potential to be more of a imagination stimulator - they can have pictures and words. Which are more interesting than just numbers..
And cards are as tactile as dice, and can be played with in more variation.

Why not read '00' as zero, an automatic critical
success (as much as is possible within the bounds of
reality)?
In addition the skill system currently rates from
00-100 (zero because it is possible to have 'no skill'
in a subject), which is really a range of 101. Why not
make it 00-99 and if anyone reaches 100 they make a
"paradigm shift" (to use Kuhn's phrase) in the subject
in question?
